All India Oracle Users Group (AIOUG) in association with Perfsystems organized a "Tech Night @ Chennai" on December 21st 2009. The tech night provided oracle and database professionals an opportunity to enhance their productivity, usability and influence the quality. It gave a platform for oracle experts to present their case and share their experience about the oracle database.

Session 1:  JVM Performance Tuning on 11i

Abstract:    The Session was wholly dedicated for the JVM Performance which covered the prospectus scheduled as Definition & Basics of JVM with JDK, Causes for the Performance block in JVM, JVM Groups with their user standards.

In addition the speaker delivered the following supportive topics of the JVM such as Memory Leakage, Garbage Collection, Spinning of JVM, JDBC Connection etc.,

Session 2: Experiences in Mission Critical Oracle Databases

Abstract:  Raman began the session with an introduction about Perfsystems and shared his achievements & experiences on the Mission Critical Applications with Case Studies. He provided the requirements for sustaining Mission Critical Applications, such as supporting the systems 24*7, with adequate Fault-Tolerance and Disaster Recovery Mechanisms. 

His narration of a very popular live demonstration of a massive VLDB/Data warehouse environment in 1997 in Oracle Open World in San Francisco and Tokyo using 16-node clustered environment, with large storage, was very interesting.  The audiences were very impressed by this presentation, as to how well this mission critical prototype was managed.

Session 3: Introduction to Oracle BI Enterprise Edition

Abstract: The session gave basic highlights of the BI offering from Oracle. This covered detailed data modeling scenarios and Reports/Dashboards demo, Handling the Virtual Database, Handling Complex String Manipulations – Using Regular Expressions (RegEx)   and Evaluate etc.,

This presentation also covered about using Oracle BI EE as a Data Source – Loading Essbase data into custom tables – Using JDBC-ODBC Bridge. Also covered about the various tools comprising the entire Oracle BI stack and how they all fit together.
